Lee Trundle made a mistake did he? Currently playing the best football he has this season (ask any BC fan), one home match away from a Wembley appearance and just two matches away from the Premiership (and we know from our own expeiences that he usually comes good in big televised games). On top of that he's getting paid more than he was 12 months ago. I reckon he's probably fairly happy at the moment. |

Robinson a loyal Swan through and through? Is that the same Robbo that turned down the opportunity to extend his contract at the end of October? If he was a loyal Swan through and through then he would have talked to the club and signed his contract I can't understand why fans are blaming his agent for all of this, Robbo is as much to blame for this than his agent The club should not stand for any of this and a deadline should be set and if he hasn't signed then ship him out Leon Britton decided to sign a new deal before the start of the season but Robbo decided to wait to see what league we are in, You call that being a loyal Swan through and through? |
Richey,
Have you got a scanner. I said earlier I no longer have my copy and would love to get a copy of the old proud to be a swan brochure. Even better would be if someone could upload it and write an article for us :) |
Also we know that Andy Robinson is a loyal Swan through and through, and it's quite evident that Robinson's agent is pulling all the strings in this one. Robbo knows for a fact that his bread is buttered here, and if he does join another club that could be the biggest potential mistake of his Carear Anyway I suppose there's more worse things than Robbo going, can you imagine Tony Petty coming back!!! |

Roberto said on Real Radio on Thursday night that Bodde is contracted to us for the next two seasons and that he is happy here and will be here next season. I would prefer to believe Roberto than Hayden.
You are a very sad old man ,Hayden ! |

Nick S.Still got that Brochure.Pity the artists impression didnt come to fruition

Well, i was thinking more in terms of less hassle, but i get your point re: car sharing. There are a few car parking places near to the ground where the dogtrack and the brewery i think, rent their carparks out on match days. Once the fixtures are out we'll get a better idea of when it is.. but the roadworks could cause it to be a right git of a journey in. Still, you have to put up with these hardships in the championship... out of town stadia and the like
Jeff, ecologically speaking you're right, but there is usually a gang of us travelling together. If we can share the petrol for a tenner each, rather than fork out £40 each or whatever for train and bus, it's a no brainer.
Hadyn Eames should be banned forever from this site. The self important nobody would love it if there was a poll.
C'mon let's have an eviction poll! Why tell everyone your stopping posting on here and then rushing back? Lets keep it to football Jim - Dai |
Mike...
Reading isn't a good ground to drive to, plus by the time we start next season the roadworks at j11 for the ground could be a killer. Get the train and the bus. you know it makes sense. Jamie... i'm in the city centre... although dunno for how long.. could be in maidenhead soon.. depends if i can stomach moving. |
Jeff - Where in Reading are you?
ooohhhh Reading are relegated.
The easiest away game of the year for me, it's a killer 20 minute journey |
Well, it's trips to Brum and Reading then, boys. I was fairly neutral about who stayed up, but from a selfish point of view I'd have prefered a trip to Fulham, the only ground out of the three I haven't been to, and a nice day out in West London.
Only been to Brum once and thought it was a fairly hostile place. My main memory of Reading from when we played them in the cup a few years ago was the difficulty in parking - we had to walk miles! Nice that Ryan Giggs got Manure's goal to seal the league title. I'm a bit worried about Pompey's recent form, they aren't exactly going into the cup final on the crest of a wave. On the crest of a slump more like...pull yourselves together, Portsmouth! |
Who knows paul... knowing my luck it'll be a wed night game and i'm off away on work.... i'm sure i'll be at QPR otherwise..
Jeff
Now that Reading will be playing in the Championship next season does this mean you will be at a Swans game? |
As things stand...
Reading, Birmingham and Derby have been relegated from the premiership. Personally, i'm happy, but shame that fulham have survived. Unless Portsmouth score! |
A few mentions about Trunds being on the edge of the prem but what about a certain Mr. Ricketts as well. Could have flyaway swans on opposite sides at Wembley.
Can't get excited about leon Knight playing for Wycombe later though. Never liked him. Would have been more interesting if Tommy Williams had stayed at the "massive club" and was lining up as well. |
Marc.. we gonna put a 4million bid in for James Beattie then????
all these names flying around that we are going to sign is all bollux.i dont think we will sign a player from the english league.i know for a fact we are interested in a left back and central defender from espanol.plus a striker from the north of spain plus a couple of players from holland.we have not got the money to compete with some of the big clubs,so we are looking overseas.
makes sense to me |
Im going to stick my neck out on the line here..ive heard from a couple of reliable sources that:
a.Bodde is staying b.Ando will sign but possibly only until january c.expect fon williams to sign sometime next week d.the robbo saga will continue until the end of the month but he WILL sign and finally e.theres going to be a real suprise in who is coming to our club...a championship player atm who's name hasnt been mentioned |
If you were dutch and one of the best teams in holland come calling.. ie psv, feyenoord or ajax wouldn't you go?? We are lucky that we managed to get such a good player "temporarily".. just like anderson in many ways... if we can't hold onto him to a dutch side, fair enough. I wouldn't want to lose him to an english side though.
The rumours of Bodde's imminent departure are flying around at the moment.
I too heard at least a month ago that his wife was not at all happy so far from home and as a result he may be heading to PSV, or back to ADO Den Haag if they return to the top flight through the playoffs. They are doing quite well so far.... [forum.football.co.uk] .... playing today I believe. I'd love to see him stay. Perhaps if we set up a small Dutch colony in Van Marinaland and bring in a few more Netherlanders, he might stay? |
Nick R,
I stand corrected, you are quite right regarding West Ham United winning the Second Division Championship in season 1980/81. Gareth, Gary Jones was signed by Jan Molby from Caernarfon Town in July 1997 and made 8 league appearances for the Swans(3+5). |
Nick,
I was asking, only a couple of weeks ago, if anyone still had the proud to be a swan brochure. If things had not gone pear shaped I would have loved to have seen that ground completed but as I lost most of my Swans memorabilia when my Mum moved from Clydach I would love to see that brochure again. |
Nick Rees
Correct on all counts. Probably a better west Ham team than they have had since..Brooking, Devonshire, Cross, Goddard etc. I still have that brochure somewhere. I saw it the other day. Somehow it has survived 25 house moves and a flooding. |

Was tempted to sign up and contribute more.I know it's been quiet of late, but it is the start of the close season and things would have picked up of their own accord as new signings were discussed and debated.I was heartened when someone said that this would be their last posting back in April sometime,as I think were a lot of other "closet contributers".But no,it was another "false dawn" and we are now back to the "Haydn Eames Roadshow",full of opinionated personal abuse and a site now cluttered with this person's rantings and the replies of those prepared to rise to the bait.
When will you realise you starve a flame of oxygen and it goes out!!Time and again he disappears only to re appear, initially in a reasonable form but then slowly and surely back to his vitriolic worst. Anyway, back to the shadows or maybe Planet Swans, that's a good read.Pity,on occasions this can be a really good and informative site. And yes, before someone replies,I have probably risen to the bait by writing this.!!,just really tired of this guy monopolising the site and people following him. |

Very true , Haydn.
But what were the rumours you heard today regarding Bodde ? And where did you hear them ? Thanks. |
Yes Haydn, of course it would be a very good idea, but then I wasn't the one being insulting and abusive based on an assumption and whether or not he will respond has absolutely no bearing on my right to comment howsoever I choose provided it is within the rules of this forum. Whoever he is, he may have read the post to which you refer, he may not. I just suggested that to brand someone a hypocrite on a public forum without knowing one way or the other cannot in any way be justified. Anyway, I didn't make an assumption because it is a fact that you don't know whether he read the post or not. He's a hypocrite because he didn't comment on a post he didn't read, is that it? Your argument has no logic whatsoever I'm afraid.

Perhaps it was as Rob said about some voices in my head These days, all possible player dealings are kept very close to Martinez's chest, but sometimes it's out of his hands Let's wait and we will soon see |
Dave Williams
Wouldn't it be a good idea for Jon Williams to answer that for himself and not for you to assume and to answer for him? Perhaps you are the one that's doing the assuming. Further more, would he have written what he did if someone close to him was taken out by this nutter? As I said, was it right for Dafydd to write that he hoped the bridge would take out the Cardiff supporters including the team bus on their way home after their win in Wembley, but what I wrote didn’t suit his agenda That's why I said that they were both hypocrites of the highest order. |
Haydn, you said "Jon Williams
Reference you’re posting No. 8690 Funny you never posted to complain about posting No.6875 dated 6th April 2008 and express your disapproval of that posting or possibly the agenda didn’t suit your argument. Talk about being a hypocrite" Ever occur to you he might not have read it? No, I thought not. Some people do have better things to do sometimes. I know you're not one of them, but quite a few people do. Trust me, it's true. So it would seem you are simply judging someone and being abusive based 100% on an assumption and without knowing the facts. |
Haydn ,
Can you tell us the rumours and where you heard them ? Also, who told you ? Thanks. |
Haydn wrote, I wouldn't put too much money on your "Evil Genius" being here next season, especially after hearing the rumours that are going about today
Still getting the voices in your head Haydn? |

I wouldn't put too much money on your "Evil Genius" being here next season, especially after hearing the rumours that are going about today |

mark,
i saw that article, i'm sure it was in the post though, but i can't find it. Ah well, if he does get an extension.. you know where you heard it first!!! |

Jeff,
according to icWales.co.uk "Bauza’s current contract expires at the end of the season. But he is confident, along with his manager, that he will still be at the Liberty next season." GB added: "I’m really excited about playing in the Championship. " Read into that what you will. |
Can someone confirm what i think i read previously, that Bauza has already got a 2 year deal from martinez???? I'm sure when Bauza scored his hatrick, Martinez was interviewed afterwards and said that bauza deserved his new two year deal. Please tell me i wasn't imagining this?????

Watching the Darlington V Rochdale game on SKY and noticed a Gary Jones. So I wondered if it was the same Gary Jones who was signed by the Swans a few years ago. I went to soccerbase.com and found out that it was. Suprisely he never made any first team appearances for us but signed for Rochdale and then went to Barnsely for £200,000. He is now back at Rochdale now but isn't it strange how players who can't get a game for one club go on and produce a decent transfer fee later on in thier carear.

Spot on Mike - agree with every word, particularly Williams' performance at Gillingham. He looks a fantastic prospect.

Article in tonights Evening Post about Paul Anderson.Has already been told by Liverpool that he will have another season in the Championship. He would'nt say where though,or he genuinely does'nt know.

Colin, Swansea,
Didn't West Ham win tghe league as Champions the season we went up to the old First Division with them and Notts County? I'm sure they did. They stuffed us 3-1 at the Vetch on the day we "officially" opened the East Stand in what was the first part of four stands to be built. Pity we went bust first ;) PS "Proud to be a Swan" - does anyone remember the brochure???? |
Nice to see Bristol City win 2-1 against Palace, im no Wurzel fan but it was great seeing Warnocks face when the second goal went in! what a picture.
Trunds play almost all the game didnt look too bad in the first half tired late on, hope we play them next year. Just watched a bit of the Throphy final, Chris Todd getting in some Smith type challenges, good to see an old Jack putting it about a bit. |
Before Anyone points it out, I forgot Butler. He'd be amongst my bench warmers too. He's too inconsistent for me. Had some cracking games this season, but also some where he might as well not have turned up. He needs to up his game.

It's been interesting to read all the thoughts on here over the past week regarding who should be retained and who should go. Here's a few ramblings of my own.
First off, I've seen Williams a couple of times and I've no doubt he's going to be a big asset. He was particularly good at Gillingham, which was by no means an easy game for a defender. The lad is superlative defensively in the air, he's fit, strong and pacey. He's not perfect, but I think there's potential for him to get even better under the coaching of Martinez and Jones. What strikes me so far is that we have a team already which can compete in the Championship and which I think is capable of finishing somewhere around halfway, IF they could all stay fit and available. The trouble is, we all know that's not going to happen as injuries and suspensions take their toll, just like they did this season. The problem then is that our quality cover is just not there. Make no mistake, that problem almost cost us promotion this year. This is my team that could survive in the Championship, assuming the baldy scouser stays and we get Ando back: Doris Rangel, Monk, Williams, Painter Ando, Britton, Evil Genius, Pratley, Robbo Scotland I think we might have to play 4-5-1 at home again and revert to 4-4-2 away, or when we're chasing games at home or protect a lead, just like we did this season. I'd have a bench of: Bauza (is going to get better still), MacDonald (unproven but looks good), OTJ (seems to be getting stronger), Orlandi (unproven), Tate (unlikely to be called on unless to cover). And that's it, I'm afraid. I don't think we have any other players who can hack it at their current stage of their development (Allen, Jones, etc) or will ever hack it again (Lawrence, KOL, Austin). As for Amankwaah, Knight, Way and Duffy, I don't expect them to be here come August. My biggest surprise in the past few days has been the new contracts for Lawrence, KOL and Austin. Now I know there may be things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about and I'm content to let things unfold. As we all know, Senor 'M' is no mug. All I'm saying is that I don't think any of them can expect a first team berth, except in the case of direst emergency. I lost count in the last two months of the number of times Big Kev was skinned on the outside by a winger who then set up a goal. We can't afford any more of that. I would be chuffed to see some kind of behind the scenes role for KOL and for Big Kev, on the coaching/youth side maybe. I'm sure they have a lot to offer there. I can't see Dennis Lawrence getting much first team exposure if Monk and Williams stay fit. Maybe he's happy to warm the bench, maybe not. So, I hope Roberto and staff are busy scouring Europe for more gems who can fill in at full back, centre back, wide midfield if Robbo and Ando disappear, another striker - not to mention a keeper who can keep Doris on his toes. The next three months are going to be interesting. |

A Championship winning season will always be remembered by fans, especially the followers of clubs with limited Championship success during it's history.
West Ham United for example have won just the one Championship in the club's history, Division Two in 1957/58, whilst Cardiff City have three Championship successess, Division Two in 2002/03, Division Three South in 1946/47, and Division Three in 1992/93. The Division Three Championship winning season of 1999/2000 will always be remembered by Swans fans, not so much for the free flowing football, but for the numerous records that were broken through the season. This season Roberto's team have broken the following records. Goals: Most scored away from home-44, was 38 during season 1966/67. Points: Most total points of 92, was 85 during season 1999/00. Wins: Most total wins of 27, was 25 in season 1976/77. Most away wins during a season of 14, was 11 in season 1987/88. Final Record Away from home of P23, W14, D6, L3, F44, A21, beat the previous record of P23, W11,D3,L9,F27,A28. The Swans also equalled the record of consecutive games without defeat away from home set in 1970/71 with 12. All of the above relate to league games only. The Swans' Third Division South Championship winning side of 1948/49 set many records still standing today, but I would suggest that the manner in which Roberto has undergone his task this season and what he has achieved will be remembered for a long time to come. The bar has been set by Roberto in the manner in which the team have played week in, week out this season, and will be a tough act to follow. Yet posters still question his decision making after all he has achieved. |

One thing about wage limits. The main problem is that teams even out and games become more boring esp in mid table. I have watched maybe 200 games in this system in the last 6 or 7 years and a lot of the magic seems to disappear. Not a solutuon or an an argument just an observation. Are they worth it? No, they are not but there again Hollywood is full of losers too. |
Well I think Martinez should shrug off these losers and start shopping around.
Was not the likes of Kevin Keegan discovered at lowly div 4 Scunthorpe all those yrs ago. We need players at Swansea City with the right attitude. We need players who will work hard and give their all, proud to put the shirt on sort of people, not losers who think they are better than what they are. Out with Robbo and anyone else who thinks they are worthy of more than 156K pa. |

NickR,
I wouldn't describe Freddy Eastwood's 16 goals in a Championship season for a relegated Southend team as "nothing" |
